Prenuptial Agreements

Anyone planning marriage or a civil partnership can consider arranging a prenuptial agreement. These agreements set out how things will be settled if your relationship breaks down

Prenuptial agreements are not part of English law but judges find that they can be useful in divorce proceedings as they record how the parties were thinking when they got married or began their civil partnership.

A prenuptial agreement must be properly set out if it is to be useful. Both people involved should seek their own independent legal advice to ensure that the agreement is fair and just.

Get in touch with our family lawyers if you think a prenuptial agreement might be useful.

Come and see us if you would like more information from us about the things that can be included in a prenuptial agreement.

Make an appointment with our family law solicitors if you have already entered into a prenuptial agreement without taking advice and you want to make sure it is appropriate.
